Jacob's Reflection
The problems that Danny and I did on here were problems that we both struggled to comprehend.  After doing all these problems in a step by step format, I now feel like I understand these types of problems and feel more ready for the exam.  I'm really glad we did this project because not only does it boost your grade, but it also helps you understand the process of how these problems work and how to solve them with ease.

Noah:

I chose these concepts because these are the ones I understood the most from the class.  Due to this project my understanding of these problems has increased.  I hope to see more of these problems on the final exam because I understand them well.

Will:

I chose my problems because I studied their unit the most out of the three units there were to  choose from.  I now understand these problems more because of the D.E.V. project.  I look forward to seeing these problems on the exam because I understand them really well.

Grant:

I chose these problems because they were the most fun problems in the class for me to do.  These problems accurately  show my understanding of the class.  I now understand these problems in depth.  I believe that this problem will help me on the final exam.

I chose to do these problems because problems like these are by far my favorite to do. I also knew that I could challenge myself with these problems and do them well. This project has taught me how much I can challenge myself.

Andy's reflection: The problems I chose reflected this trimester. Farmer ted helped show how to express functions and evolve equation, and grouping showed complex factoring. I chose these problems because they showed a lot about what we learned through the duration of this trimester.  The problems I chose helped me learn more by having to practice techniques we learned in the trimester.

Sam's reflection: I chose the concepts I did because I felt that I understood them the most out of everything else in this class. I wanted to try and challenge myself as much as possible so I chose these and did what I could to make it more difficult than it would be normally.  The assignment taught me a lot.  Having to work a problems backwards and while making it in your head was what helped me understand the material more.

John's reflection: The problems I did reflected what I truly understood in this trimester. My two problems were based on what concepts I understood most throughout the trimester. During this assignment, I learned even more about those concepts.  This really allowed me to expand my comfort zone and allowed me to kind of try things I have had questions about.  This assignment was beneficial to my education without a doubt.

Kris' reflection:
These problems represented the most problematic concepts for me in Functions. I struggled consistently throughout the tri and through the help of you and practicing I have learned how to create the most difficult forms of the above problems. These are the most difficult things that cover the subject matter that chase and I could formulate, providing a challenge and a learning experience all at once. I benefited greatly from this, I feel as if it will aid me on my exam as well as my overall knowledge of precalculus. 

DEV: Find the Domain of the Quadratic Radicans









With the top part of the equation. Pull out the problem underneath the square root. Try to find a common factor. I factored out a "2". I set it greater than or equal to zero because there can not be a negative number underneath the square root. To Factor it, I used the, Complete The Square, Strategy. In the left square: "6x^2" came from the "a" value. The 6 came from the C value. Multiply the A value to the C value to get 30x^2 and insert that into the top Square of the diamond shaped Square. In the right square: with the 30x^2 at the top, put the B value at the bottom of the right square. For the two open spaces in the square, find two numbers that multiply to get the top number and add to get the bottom number. I got 10x and 3x. Add them to the Left square. To get the numbers on the outside try to figure out what factors go into both numbers in the row and column. The two came fom what you factored out at the beginning. make sure you have it. Set the quantities equal to zero. Repeat the same process for the bottom equation to greater than or equal to zero.









DEV: Group the Following Equation:






To begin Grouping, you must first find the common factor. The factor you should pull out will be "3r^2". Now you can begin to begin the grouping process. Try to find the common factor of "6r^3" to get "r^2(6r-1)". Then try to find the common factor of "-12r+2" to get "-2(6r-1)". Group "r^2" and "-2" to get "(r^2-2)". Group "6r-1" to get "(6r-1)". Set them equal to zero. Your x-ints are r=0, r=1/6 r= (positive and negative square-root) 2. Make sure to bounce on "0". This is a odd degree. It is positive.

DEV: Find The Inverse of:






The top of the beginning problem is a quantity and the bottom is too. Multiply the bottom quantity to the top. You do something to one side you must do to the other side. Distribute the "x" to the quantity. Subtract the "5yx" to itself to move it to the otherside. You will do this to get the two "y" variables on one side. Subtract the "3" by both sides to get the number away from the "y" variables. On the right side of your problem now, Try to find a common factor which turns out to be "y" and factor out. To get why by itself, divide the quantity "18-5x" by both sides. You should now have the inverse of the problem.

Problem 1

Step 1: Set the equation equal to "y"

Step 2: Substitute "y" for "x", set the equation equal to "x"

Step 3: Times both sides of the equation by 33y+4

Step 4: Subtract 33xy+4 to both side. While adding 9 to both sides as well

Step 5: Factor out the "y" to make 32-33x and divide it to both sides

Final answer should be y=4x+9 / -33x+32




Problem 2

Step 1: take x^6 and divide it by x to get x^5
Distribute x^5 to x+5 
Subtract x^6+5x^5 by itself
Drop down -10x^4-50x^3

Step 2: divide -10x^4 by x to get -10x^3
Distribute -10x^3 to x+5
Subtract -10x^4-50x^3 by itself
Drop down -50x^2-275x

Step 3: divide -50x^2 by x to get -50x
Distribute -50x to x+5
Subtract -50x^2-275x by -50x^2-250x
Drop down -25x-125

Step 4: divide -25x by x to get -25
Distribute -25 to x+5
Subtract -25x-125 by itself
Drop down 0

The final answer will be x^5-10x^3-50x-25



Problem 3

Step 1: subtract 10 by both sides

Step 2: factor out 3 of the equation
Divide -3 by 2 and square it

Step 3: multiply 9/4 by 3 to get 27/4 and add that to -10

Step 4: add -13/4 to both sides

Final equation will be f(x)= 3(x-3/2)^2+13/4

The domain is all real numbers 
The range is [13/4, infinity)
The vertex is (3/2, 13/4)




Problem 4

Step 1: Put the numbers that corespond with each letter

Step 2: simplify the equation

Step 3: divide 6x by 18x and divide 12 by 12

Step 4: distribute 9x to 1/3x+1

Step 5: factor out the 3 and divide the "b" value by 2 and square it to get 9/4

Step 6: multiply 9/4 by 3 and add that to the other side of the equation

Step 7: subtract 27/4 from both sides

The final equation will be 3(x+3/2)^2-27/4

The Domain will be all real numbers
The Range is [-27/4, infinity) 
The Vertex will be (-3/2, -27/4)

Kyle: i chose these questions because even though they were easy to understand it gave me more of a challenge to see how well i could make a different and more complex way to solve them but with a different equation/shape. Doing so it help strengthen the understanding of these problems for me making it less stressful thinking about the exam for this class. My reflection for this project is that it was very stressful trying to incorporate this project into our work time seeing that we had ACT and exams but without a doubt it help the understanding of each problem more.

Andrew: i chose these questions because they were the ones i struggled the most this trimester. While yes they were hard to understand but with the proper help and determination i was able to learn each concept of these problems. Showing how i did the problems and solveing thems shows how much my understanding for these equation have increased. I am just glad this project is over because to be honest it was very stressful even with the massive amount of time we were given. But still knowing now how each problems work i feel a little bit better about the functions exam then i was before we did the dev project.

Austin: These questions were my favorite of the three units that we learn. Although yes i did struggle with them for a little bit taking time and putting effort into this project i learn how each one of the problems work. By showing/teaching how step by step instruction of how to solve the problem it has given me a clear view on them making them seem easy now with a high understanding of each problem. My reflection for this project is although it was very stressful it was a good education to help me with the problems that i struggle with.


D.E.V. Project - MaKenzie


I chose these concepts because they were my favorite concepts to do in class. At first I didn't understand them, however, now I do. All of these problems prove my understandings on mathematics and what I learned because in the beginning of the trimester I wouldn't have had an idea of how to solve these problems, let alone make them from scratch. The things I learned from doing this project are a little more personal than anything. I learned that I actually know what I am doing, instead of doing them all on auto pilot. Because it's one thing to memorize how to do a problem and it's another to understand and make up a problem. It was frustrating but I think it is worth it, to know what I understand, in the end.
