First Blog

9. I have never been more frightened than when... One day, on November 23rd 2014, my band and I played a show in Detroit called "Fall Metal Fest 5". After our set, we we're watching a band called "Unbound Hate", they're we're very impressive, and during their set, Riley found a ziptie on the ground. "Will you marry me?", asked Riley. "Well yeah," I answered as I gave him my ring finger. "Ziiiiip" went the ziptie as he pulled super hard on my finger... too hard, this thing was NOT coming off. I walked over to the bartender lady and asked for a sharp object or a knife. She took my finger and and began to saw at the ziptie. Nothing. Not a dent. The pressure is beginning to hurt and I am getting very worried about the whole situation when she says, "I'm in the medical field, and if he doesn't get this off he's gonna lose this finger." That is when panic mode set in. Minutes went by. It was to the point when I had to hold my bandmate Derek's hand with my free hand and just scream profanities at the top of my lungs. "Don't look man!", Derek kept telling me as he held my head, pushing my face into his chest to mute the screaming and keep me calm. I hear my friend Matt scream, "Make a fist!", meaning that it was about to hurt. Every time I heard the words, "make a fist", it meant that they're were going to try something to cut it off.
