Review week 6
Week 6
Of course, the ideas we learned this week were interesting too. learning how to use an equation to figure out the sides of a box? An equation from geometry would do the same thing- but not with an equation for the data given like that.
When I was called out in class on Friday, I admit I was sheepish, for I hadn't done the problem- sure, I did manage to do it about a minute later but the point was that I slacked off and I should have done it earlier- the one thing I do not want to become is someone who does all the work on they very last day its due.
Besides the concepts there was also the extra credit assignment I sent in on Friday- How to Survive High School. That was something quite awkward I can imagine, but the moment the idea came to mind the thoughts started to flow and I couldn't stop. If it is used to help new students in the long run, then I'm glad I could have helped.
Week 6
Well a reflection on this week is that not a lot happened. All I really need to remember is to plug the x in to find y instead of doing it the long way around. Other then this it was a really basic week for me.

Week 5 Andre
My muddiest moment occurred when i encountered the terms and vocab. Once the questions were explained i began to know what i was being asked of. I'm still studying the vocab of expressing certain equations, but it will come!!

Week 5
This week started out good for me. I felt comfortable at the beginning of the week with the new concept. However once we started getting into the new content, I began to get stuck. Trying to come up with new formulas by only using limited information is not easy for me.

week 5
Muddiest point: Well this week started out rough because of getting a REALLY bad grade on the quiz. But after staying after school I feel way more confident, also, thank you a lot for making us retake it. Personally I was freaking out that that grade was going to stay in the grade book. The applied functions packet is pretty confusing. The problems seem really intimidating at first but once I get shown the right direction to go in I understand it without problem. The X-intercepts seems like an easier way for me to complete what I have to than completing the square. I feel like with more practice and a little more explanation it will get easier for me to understand.

Week Five Reflection
Of course, winding the area of certain things is new concept that will take a moment to adjust, but I believe it was well described enough for me to get through it.
Also, the new classroom set up was interesting- I've been used to the four person groups for so long and now they're shattered. I'm not sure which set up I like more, but I do enjoy this setting as well.

Week 5
I really liked that it was interactive on Wednesday because I felt like people are actually learning stuff and Mr. Jackson can tell if we need to go over something more if students are struggling. Plus it can boast speaking-in-front-of-people skills
Week 4 Andre
I have a reflection upon this classroom, and its on the seating chart.I like the fact that their is change, but i enjoyed my excelled productivity in our groups. Hopefully after a few weeks we can change back. Also i like the idea of participation.

Well, factoring.
Reflection upon progress
week four
Factoring was really intimidating to me when we first started doing it because I remembered how bad i was at it in Algebra 2. When you taught us the square diamond method it made it a lot easier and i actually knew what i was doing on the quiz. The completing the square thing though is still pretty difficult to me. i need to spend more time studying how to do that out of class. Also i felt like the problems you had on the quiz were a lot more difficult than you had on the practice so that threw me for a loop as well.
Week 4
Well a connection to the real world that happen was a couple days ago was in my ACT prep class. The connection went over our first few weeks of math when we were doing more of
f(g(x)) or (f•g)(x)
One of the math problems was like
Find f(g(6))
f(x) = (6x+7)/(4x+8)
g(x) = 3x-7
f(g(x)) = ~1.4
All I had to do was type it correctly in my calculator and it spits out an answer. Since I knew what it was asking I didn't gave to wonder what it meant. Saved me precious time for ACT testing.
well the internet seems to be my mortal enemy tonight
Last week in math was a very difficult one for me. I only had 3 days to work with since i was going up to LSSU for a collage visit and the material wasn't quite meshing with me. I hope to review a little bit more this week and get back on track by the end of it. this concept in math has been particularly difficult for me because there is no "set" way to do these problems. its a lot of guessing and then re-evaluating the numbers to try and figure out the answer. Wail this was very difficult for me in the beginning, i've started to form a better understanding of the small tips and tricks that are useful for these kinds of problems. all in all this math class has been one of the more difficult ones i've taken, but that doesn't make it un-conquerable and i'm sure that after these first few weeks, after being back from break, ill be much more proficient in math.

I think, finally, I'm getting into the swing of how things work- how to study, how to do equations properly, how to pay attention and ask question and check answers by comparing with group members.
Now let's get to business.

This week went really well for me. the whole factoring thing is really hard and i do not like doing the process of guess and check so I'm really glad that you taught us the square and diamond thing. i did really well on the quiz which was great. i feel last week went really great
Week 3
The cool little thing for factoring that we learned with the square and the diamond. That definitely would have helped a long time ago.

Last week was the best I've had in the class. Inverse functions came quite naturally to me and I was actually excited. When we started learning I was a bit confused on how they worked but once we learned how to write the inverse function it all became much easier. I am starting to enjoy being in class more and the work is actually making sense. Last week was just the right click to make me more confident in this class.

Right now in the class I feel pretty alright other than being late pretty often. I understand the concepts that you're teaching but at the same time I don't feel as though I understand them 100%. I definitely will be looking over my notes more often than I had previously to get to 100% of understanding.

Week 2
Math comes pretty easy to me. So I don't have a noticeable muddy point so far or a lightbulb moment. My biggest struggle though is being on time. It sucks. No matter what time I leave my house I'm always a minute late. Other than me being late I'm really digging this math class.

Progress in the class
Right now I feel as if I'm doing well in this class. Sometimes I don't understand what is going on because the lectures are not how I learn although the homework then makes up for it as long as my notes are out. I need extra studying time at night to get where I want to be but I'm getting along well enough.

Reflection on a particular day
Week 1 - Progress
For the first unit I feel my understanding at the beginning of the week was not very good. I feel with the discussions in class are good for learning the new stuff but I really needed to go home and practice or make sure I could do it on my own. I think the homework is very helpful for this. For me personally, the inequality and interval notation came to me easily. As the week went on we got into domain and range, that's where I really needed to go home and make sure I could do it alone. The combining and composition was a little fuzzy at first, my main problem was finding out how to rewrite the "f o g." I did not understand how to rewrite it but by saying "f following g" and that made a lot more sense. Then putting it in f(g(x)). I feel by the end of the week when we had our test, I was confident about the general problems but got a little tripped up on 2 or 3 of the more challenging problems. Overall I feel this first unit went well and I learned what I personally need to do to stay on top of this class.

week 2
In general this class is going well for me, I got all the concepts but the last few days before break, I was confused about operating functions inside of functions, but after practicing at home I totally got it. I really want to know how I did on the test before Christmas break.
