Week 5 precalc functions

We were introduced to applied problems of combining functions and quadratics this week. These problems are much more logic based. For the most part the concept makes sense, but some of the problems require a lot of thinking and checking. We also were handed back our quizzes from recently, which I did not do well on. It is frustrating that I messed up on a concept that I mostly understand the only time that it mattered. Retaking the quiz will improve the grade, but I think that entire quizzes built of two problems are unfair. One mistake lowers the overall grade from an A- to a failing grade. I would much prefer a large quiz with more questions that are not unfairly hard, allowing us to show that we understand the concept on the level that it was taught instead of being tricked by problems of ridiculous difficulty.

  1. I'm sorry that you feel you were tricked. With an open note quiz, I feel that I have to make the problems a little less like the work we've done. I'm challenging your understanding of the process here, not just the answer. I'll work on making larger quizzes.
